About WonderWhyPk
A student-led initiative built on one belief — talent is everywhere in Pakistan, but opportunity is not.
Why this exists
Ahmad Abdullah earned a place at Akhuwat STEM School through a competitive national merit scholarship. There he discovered something his old classmates never would: the olympiad pathway. IMO. IOI. The competitions whose medalists are recruited by MIT, Oxford and Cambridge.
The information had always existed. It simply never travelled past a handful of elite schools. Thousands of students across Lahore — some of them sharper than the students who do know — will never hear these words, not because they lack the ability, but because nobody told them.
WonderWhyPk exists so that access is no longer decided by which school a student happened to attend.
Our mission
What we do, stated plainly.
WonderWhyPk is a student-led, pro-bono non-profit raising the standard of STEM education in Pakistan. We bring Olympiad-level mathematics and programming roadmaps directly into secondary school classrooms — free, for any school, forever. We identify students by how they think, not which school they attend, and give every one of them a concrete path to the International Mathematical Olympiad, the International Olympiad in Informatics, and the universities that recruit from them.
Founder
Who started this.

Ahmad Abdullah
Founder & Executive Director
Ahmad is a national merit scholarship student at Akhuwat STEM School, Lahore, admitted through a competitive multi-stage national selection process. He was among roughly the top 60 students nationally selected for Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) team selection trials, and reached the finals of the Pakistan Olympiad in Informatics after three elimination rounds. He placed in the top 20 nationally at GIKI CodePK and was a top-10 finalist at PUCIT PUCOM. He competes on Codeforces at Specialist level, working toward Expert and Candidate Master.
He also conducts AI research into why large language models fail on hard competitive programming problems, work he is preparing for arXiv and a conference workshop, and volunteers with the Al-Khidmat Foundation and the Allah Walay Foundation. He is completing O Levels and intends to apply to MIT and Ivy League universities.
The team
Five people, no salaries.
Everyone here is a student or a volunteer. Nobody is paid, and nothing on this site costs a school or a student anything.

AbdulWali
Co-Founder & Deputy Director
AbdulWali is a 100% merit scholarship student at Akhuwat STEM School. He works in C++ and modern web development, and competes seriously: top 20 nationwide at GIKI's CodePK, a top-10 finalist at PUCIT's PUCOM, and through to the third and final round of the Pakistan Olympiad in Informatics as one of the top 20 competitive programmers nationwide. That POI result placed him among the top 60 students in Pakistan selected to compete in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2026. He has finished in the top 10 at Code Rush twice, and placed 2nd in competitive programming at MechTech 2.0, hosted by UET Lahore, winning a PKR 10,000 cash prize.
Away from the keyboard he solves Rubik’s Cubes, and can take on almost every variation of the puzzle. He is currently extending his technical work into building AI employees and agents.

Ayyan Javed
Director of Outreach
Ayyan is a high-merit scholar at Akhuwat STEM School, selected on a national scholarship. He is a silver medalist at the HRCA Mathematics Contest, and has spent the past three years working through advanced IMO topics, including probability and statistical reasoning. He has taken part in NSTC twice, and in NMO, Poly Math, IYMC and YIMO.
He is an active public speaker and MUN participant, and one social media video he made reached over 40,000 views. He volunteers with the Al-Khidmat Foundation and the Allah Walay Foundation.

Academic endorsement
Formally endorsed by UET Lahore
Formally endorsed by two faculty members of the Department of Computer Science, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore:
Syed Tehseen Ul Hasan Shah
Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, UET Lahore
Waqas Ali
Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, UET Lahore
They issued a signed endorsement letter on official departmental letterhead confirming that WonderWhyPk's curriculum develops advanced logical deduction, algorithmic thinking, and foundational robotics — the competencies required for top-tier university research and global STEM industries — and recommending that schools welcome WonderWhyPk sessions.
Being clear
What WonderWhyPk is not.
Worth stating plainly, so nobody arrives expecting something we do not do.
Not a tutoring service — we charge nothing, for anything.
Not a coaching centre — we give roadmaps and resources, not intensive instruction.
Not a school club — we are an independent initiative with external institutional endorsement.
Not operating at scale yet — sessions begin this term, and we will publish real numbers as they happen.
Not a gated platform — accounts are optional and free. Everything — the tracks, the books, the STEM Hub — is open without one. An account only carries your saved list between devices.
